Vespa allows you to search, organize, rank and display data from large, evolving data sets in real time. The talk will cover recent work in Vespa to support machine-learned models from TensorFlow and ONNX-compatible frameworks out of the box and show how this can be used to scale evaluation of such models to many data points per user request without increasing latency. Vespa is the behind the content recommendation, personalized ad targeting and search at Yahoo where it handles billions of daily queries over billions of documents.About Jon Bratseth:Jon Bratseth is a Distinguished Architect at Oath (former Yahoo), and the architect and one of the main contributors to Vespa, the open big data serving engine. Jon has 20 years of experience as an architect and programmer on large distributed systems. He has a master in computer science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.About Eric Ringger:Eric Ringger is the Director of Machine Learning for Personalization at Zillow, building and leading a team of applied scientists and machine learning engineers with a mission to personalize everyone’s search for a home. The team has built and deployed personalized recommender systems across multiple channels. Prior to Zillow Eric has worked as (in reverse order) a Research Scientist at Facebook, an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brigham Young University, and a Researcher at Microsoft Research. Over the years, his research has included machine learning for search ranking, text mining, natural language understanding, machine translation, and text generation. His Ph.D. in computer science is from the University of Rochester. He is an active contributor to the scientific literature in these areas, and he has served numerous times as a reviewer and program committee member for NLP scientific conferences.
